A animal Picture is a special piece of furniture from the Animal Crossing series. It is given to the player by a villager when the player becomes very good or best friends with them. Villager pictures were included in Animal Crossing: Wild World, absent in Animal Crossing: City Folk, but returned in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. Pictures are valuable in that not only do they prove the level of friendship between the player and villager, but also that they were worth around 3,200 HRA points each in Wild World. There is a unique picture for every villager, and even some for non-villager animals such as Tom Nook and K.K. Slider. Each individual picture has a portrait of the villager and can be interacted with to reveal a quote. The quote can be unique to the character itself (e.g., Tangy's picture is about citrus), their personality, or even their species. There are 156 villager picture furniture items in Wild World. They do not appear in the catalog, and do not have a categorized color or genre despite their colored frames. The player can put these pictures on top of tables/fireplaces/etc. They all occupy one space in the player's house and cannot be sold.In general, frequently speaking to the villager daily and doing as many favors or tasks they request is the best way to obtain a picture. Sending them gifts and helping them with their hobbies will also improve the player's friendship with them. Doing tasks for a villager should result in a short jingle when the feat is accomplished, signaling that their friendship with the player has improved. In Animal Crossing: Wild World and Animal Crossing: New Leaf, after completing enough favors and becoming friends with a villager, the player may be rewarded by the villager with a picture of themselves. When a player has befriended a villager enough, the villager may approach them after displaying a surprised or excited emotion, and will want to start a conversation. There is a chance that one of these conversations will be of the villager expressing their gratitude towards the player for being their friend, resulting in a picture as a reminder of their friendship. Some personality types, such as lazy and snooty villagers, are more indirect in giving their pictures. There are two scenarios indicative of this glitch, and there are no workarounds; it is a permanent effect on the player, and in order for another chance at a picture, another character must be used to befriend the villager again. This glitch was patched, among other lazy villager glitches, in newer copies of Wild World.
If the player has not received the lazy villager's picture yet, they may approach the player to ask if they have framed their picture yet. Regardless of the answer the player gives, the villager will act as if the player possesses it.
If the lazy villager approaches the player to ask if anyone has given them their picture before, they may give them it regardless of their answer. If the villager is glitched, they will not give the picture, and will proceed to act as if they have already given it in future conversations. There is also an alternate way to receive villager pictures. During April Fool's Day, Blanca will show up in the plaza and start a minigame with the player. Blanca will hide in one of the villager's houses, while masking herself to look like the villager. The player will then have to deduce which of the two villagers is the real villager, and which is Blanca. For example, a villager (or Blanca) may tell the player their birthday, in which Blanca will always fabricate a date. If the question pertaining the the villager is answered correctly, the villager may become excited and grant the player their picture.
